Do I need to be a resident of West Vancouver?

Ideally, you should be a resident of or live close to, West Vancouver as our activities are centered in and around West Vancouver. However, because North Vancouver does not have a Newcomers’ Group, residents of North Vancouver are also welcome to join.

Can I attend a meeting or activity before I join?

Yes, you are more than welcome to attend an activity or meeting before joining.  This is a great way to meet our members and find out what we are all about.

Where are the meetings held?

The monthly general meetings are held at the West Vancouver Yacht Club, 5854 Marine Dr, West Vancouver, BC, V7W 2S2. Our various activities take place at members’ homes or at public venues in and around the West Vancouver neighborhood.

Can I get a lift to a meeting or activity?

Yes, we have members living all over West Vancouver.  We can assist you to organize a lift with someone who lives close by.

Do I need to host events?

No. There are some activities which take place in members’ homes and members can volunteer to host events. However, hosting is not a requirement for participating. Other groups meet at public venues.  The convener of the specific group will be able to give you more details.

What period does the membership cover?

The annual dues cover our membership year which runs from July 1 to June 30 of the following year.

What does the membership fee cover?

The club is run by our member volunteers, so the membership funds go to covering administrative costs, subsidizing various events, and renting our venue for our monthly meetings. We also pay to maintain our website and our membership with the National Newcomers Council of Canada, which includes insurance coverage.

Can I get a refund if I don’t attend any events?

The membership fee is non-refundable, so we encourage you to start participating and getting involved in all the fun activities.
